Gujarat Titans Beat Lucknow Super Giants By 7 Wickets As Jos Buttler, Shubman Gill Shine

Gujarat Titans registered a convincing seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in their Indian Premier League 2026 fixture at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Sunday, successfully chasing 165 in just 18.4 overs.

Gujarat approached the chase with caution, as Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan stitched together a steady opening stand. Sudharsan scored 15 before falling to Digvesh Rathi, while the team reached 52/1 by the end of the powerplay.

Gill controlled the innings with a refined and confident display, finding gaps and punishing loose deliveries. He accelerated effectively, including a key attacking over against Mohammed Shami.

The captain reached his fifty in 34 balls and made 56 off 40 before being dismissed by Prince Yadav.

Jos Buttler complemented Gill with a measured start before shifting gears aggressively. He dominated Avesh Khan in a single over with three boundaries and brought up his 100th T20 half-century in 34 balls. Buttler scored a decisive 60 off 37 balls, including 11 fours.

The partnership between Gill and Buttler kept the required rate well within reach and dismantled Lucknow’s bowling attack. Gujarat surged to 128/1 in 14 overs, effectively sealing the outcome.

Despite losing both set batters in quick succession, Gujarat had little trouble closing out the match. Rahul Tewatia and Washington Sundar calmly guided the side to victory, with Sundar finishing unbeaten on 21.

Earlier in the match, Gujarat’s bowlers laid the groundwork by restricting Lucknow to 164/8. Prasidh Krishna delivered an outstanding spell, claiming four wickets and disrupting the opposition’s progress.

Lucknow began well, reaching 60/2 in the power play, with Aiden Markram contributing 30 runs. Regular wickets halted their momentum, and efforts from Nicholas Pooran and Abdul Samad failed to accelerate the scoring rate.

Late contributions from Mukul Choudhary, George Linde, and Shami lifted the total past 160, including a productive final over.

With a dominant all-round performance, the Gujarat Titans completed a comprehensive victory and strengthened their campaign in the tournament.
