GG Vs RCB Highlights: With Playoff Hopes Still Alive, Royal Challengers Bangalore Defeated Gujarat Giants by 8 wickets

GG vs RCB: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat faced off against each other in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 on March 18 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. RCB dominated this game by 8 wickets and kept alive their expectations of going to the end of the season games. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Sophie Devine scored 99 runs in a brilliant inning, but she missed her century by one run.

The GG batted first and scored 188 runs while losing four wickets. With 48 deliveries, Laura scored 68 runs, helping GG reach its target of 188 runs in 20 overs.

The RCB team got off to a great start, scoring 77 runs in just six overs, chasing a target of 189. Smriti Mandhana scored 37 runs in 31 deliveries. However, Sophie’s powerhouse performance of 99 runs helped the RCB reach their goal in 18 overs.

For her outstanding performance, Sophie was named as Player of the Match. After this inning, Sophie said in the presentation that winning the orange cap from Meg Lanning is always nice. I was at ease today. I didn’t care if I got out for 99 because I had to win the match for the team as soon as possible. Sophie added that we might still be able to make the playoffs.

Points table after GG vs RCB

The Mumbai Indians hold the lead in the points table with ten points. With 8 and 6 points, the Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz are in second and third place, respectively. With four points each, RCB and GG are the teams at the bottom of the points table.

Fixtures for RCB and GG

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have one remaining game, which they will play on March 21 against the Mumbai Indians. On the other hand, GG still has one match left, which they will play on March 20 against the UP Warriors.

It will be interesting to see whether the team at the bottom of the points table, GG, or RCB, will have any chance to qualify for the playoffs. However, this totally depends on the first three teams at the points table.
