Cricket World Cup 2023
At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday, Afghanistan shockingly defeated the defending champions England by a score of 69 runs. England was bowled out for 215 in 40.3 overs while trying to reach a 285-run goal. With three wickets each, Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman were among the standout performers. Mujeeb took 3 for 51 in 10 overs while Rashid returned 3 for 37 in 9.3 overs. Various people throughout the world had different reactions to Afghanistan’s historic win. Some people criticized the England cricket team, while others commended Afghanistan for their outstanding performance.
Earlier, Afghanistan advanced to 284 after receiving outstanding blows from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ikram Alikhil.
Ikram scored 58 runs, while Gurbaz scored 80. Mujeeb Ur Rehman also contributed with a significant 28 off 16 ball knock. Adil Rashid, who took three wickets for England, was the bowler of choice.
Despite Afghanistan’s difficult score, there would be no capitulation at 174 for 5. Alikhil held down the tail while Rashid and Mujeeb took advantage of England’s bowling to the best of their abilities.

By the time Curran’s final over was launched for two fours and a free-hit six, he and Woakes had combined to deliver 8-0-87-0, the worst possible figures. In the end, those were the margins that proved impossible to control as Afghanistan kept their pre-game vow to bring their nation some “joy” in the wake of last week’s earthquake. They delivered more than they were able to.
