Asia Cup 2023: Who Is Going To Be The Asian Super Star In The Cricket War?

Cricket rules hearts. Cricket is almost religion to millions across the world. Talk about Asia, people love to live cricket specifically in case of a country of 1.4 billion people, India.

Looking at the previous years of the occasion Asian cricket supremacy, Team India has been dominating the contest. Winning seven titles of the Asia Cup, India does not offer much opportunity to Pakistan for winning its 3rd trophy this time. Let us go through the statistics for a better speculation on ground.

Overtly, the Asia Cup does not seem to have much sensation this time. Talking about the schedule of Asia Cup, a total of 13 matches including the final are to be played in this tournament. The biggest cricket tournament among the teams of Asia, is going to kick off from Wednesday, today.

The tournament will begin with a match between Pakistan and Nepal. On the other hand, the fans of India and Pakistan will be eagerly waiting for September 2 when the teams of both the countries will clash with each other. Last year the Asia Cup was won by Sri Lanka.

For the delight for the fans of Team India, the tournament has been dominated by India itself. The Asia Cup was organized for the first time in 1984 and then it was India only who won the trophy. So far, Team India has won the Cup seven times in 1984, 1988, 1990, 1995, 2010, 2016 and 2018.

India has won 6 out of 7 Asia Cups in the ODI format while the team has won the trophy once in T20 format too. At the same time, under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, Team India is now eyeing its eighth title. However, the teams of Pakistan and Sri Lanka are also in this race.

Sri Lanka won the trophy 6 times as a winner of the Asia Cup for the maximum number of times after India. Sri Lankan team has won the trophy in 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008, 2014 and after that in 2022.Another Asian cricket giant Pakistan became champion only twice.

Pakistan won the Asia Cup title in 2000 and 2012. Last year, Pakistan reached the final of the Asia Cup but the dream of winning the trophy for the third time was shattered by the defeat at the hands of Sri Lanka.

However, this time before the tournament former players of Pakistan have started playing mind games. Overall, after watching all the teams, it is definitely certain that the viewers are to see interesting matches. Talking about the schedule of Asia Cup, a total of 13 matches including the final are to be played in this tournament.

India will play its first match with Pakistan on 2 September. After this, Team India will face Nepal on 4th September. The second round matches will be played from 6th September.
