Parliament Winter Session 2023 Highlights: 2 J&K Bills passed in LS; Oppn walks out over Amit Shah’s Nehru remark

The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2023 were approved by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. After the Bills were passed, the members of the Opposition left the House due to remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah about former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. “Jammu and Kashmir has suffered due to two blunders committed by Prime Minister Nehru – first, by announcing ceasefire, and then taking Kashmir issue to the United Nations,” Shah had stated during the debate. If Jawaharlal Nehru had taken the proper actions, Kashmir, which is occupied by Pakistan, would now be a part of India. It was a momentous error.
