Rouse Avenue Court Reserves Decision On Defamation Complaint Against Atishi And Sanjay Singh

Rouse Avenue Court has reserved its decision on whether to issue summons in the defamation complaint filed by former Congress MP Sandeep Dixit against former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh.

The court will announce its decision on April 3 regarding whether or not to summon the two leaders.

Sandeep Dixit’s defamation complaint stems from a press conference held on December 26, where both Atishi and Sanjay Singh allegedly made defamatory statements about him and the Congress party.

According to Dixit, the two AAP leaders accused him of accepting crores of rupees from the BJP to defeat Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The allegations also suggested that he was involved in a conspiracy with the BJP to undermine the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Dixit Denies Allegations, Calls Them False

In his complaint, Sandeep Dixit strongly rejected the accusations, calling them ‘false’ and ‘baseless’.

He further stated that if the allegations were true, he would be a criminal.

Dixit questioned the credibility of the accusations, stating that if he had received such a large sum of money from the BJP, he would use it to clean the Yamuna and combat pollution in Delhi.

Earlier Legal Proceedings And Delhi High Court’s Rejection

This defamation complaint follows an earlier legal setback for Dixit, as the Delhi High Court had rejected his civil defamation petition against Atishi and Sanjay Singh.

In that case, Dixit had sought damages amounting to Rs 10 crore for the defamatory remarks made by the two leaders.

However, despite the court’s previous ruling, Dixit continues to pursue legal action against them.

As the case progresses, the court will rule on April 3 to decide whether it will issue summons to Atishi and Sanjay Singh in response to the defamation allegations.
