The NIA has filed a charge sheet in Delhi’s Patiala House Court against a Lawrence Bishnoi gang associate.
They were accused of helping members flee overseas using forged documents to obtain passports and continue terror-related activities.
Registered in 2022, the case highlights how the Bishnoi gang’s operations merged with those of Babbar Khalsa International.
The NIA’s findings expose a network skilled at forging Aadhaar and voter IDs to manufacture fake identities and obtain passports under false names.
Furthermore, these fake passports were then used by the gang members to escape abroad.
The case has widened, with 22 people named in NIA’s charge sheets.
Meanwhile, 18 are under arrest and four accused have managed to stay out of reach.
In the latest development, the agency named Rahul Sarkar as a new accused.
He is alleged to have assisted Lawrence Bishnoi’s associates by preparing forged identity documents.
Gang members allegedly used the forged identification documents to procure passports under assumed identities.
Co-accused Sachin Bishnoi, identified as a principal associate, reportedly used this route to leave the country.
Investigators have found evidence of coordination between the Bishnoi gang and Babbar Khalsa International.
Furthermore, highlighting the overlap between organised crime and terrorism.
The gang, infamous for violent and financial crimes, allegedly sought to expand its influence through this alliance.
The agency’s investigation aims to dismantle this network by tracking financial transactions, identifying cross-border facilitators and uncovering the use of criminal proceeds to fund extremist activities.
The NIA maintains that such collaborations pose a significant threat to national security, blurring the lines between organised crime and terrorism.
With the latest chargesheet, the NIA continues to tighten its probe into the Bishnoi gang’s alleged terror links and international operations.
The agency has reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the absconding accused and exposing the gang’s wider criminal-terror network.
