Before his elevation to the Nainital High Court, Justice G Narendra had a long and distinguished career in law. He began his practice in the Madras High Court in 1989 after enrolling as an advocate in the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu.

In 1993, he shifted his registration to the Karnataka State Bar Council and continued practising law in the Karnataka High Court until his judicial appointment.

Narendra’s judicial journey began when he was appointed as a judge of the Karnataka High Court on 2nd January 2015. Later, on 30th October 2023, he was appointed as a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, where he continued serving until his recent promotion to Chief Justice.

His extensive experience in both judicial and administrative roles in the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh High Courts has prepared him well for this new responsibility.

Following the retirement of Chief Justice Ritu Bahri on October 10, senior judge Manoj Kumar Tiwari served as Acting Chief Justice until Narendra’s appointment.

In a related development, Justice Gurmeet Singh Sandhawalia has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court. The Union Minister of State for Law, Arjun Ram Meghwal, confirmed this appointment via a tweet.
