Congress Prepares For Delhi Elections; Highlights AAP & BJP Failures

On Tuesday, the Congress party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) met to finalize candidates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, scheduled for early next year.

Reports suggest that the party has finalized 35 additional nominees, with an announcement expected soon.

Delhi Congress chief Devendra Yadav, speaking after the meeting, stated that candidate selection focused on a detailed assessment of their winnability.

Yadav stated, “Many names have been finalized while many others are being contemplated upon.”

However, he did not disclose the party’s candidate for the Kalkaji constituency, where Delhi Chief Minister Atishi is contesting.

Earlier, Congress released its first list of 21 candidates, including Sandeep Dikshit, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, who will challenge AAP leader and former CM Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency.

Delhi, Punjab Suffer Under AAP: Delhi Congress Committee President

The Delhi Congress Committee President Devendra Yadav criticized Arvind Kejriwal and the AAP government, accusing them of misleading Delhi residents.

He claimed that the city’s voters gave Kejriwal several chances, but he failed to meet their expectations each time.

Rather than building on the foundation laid by Congress and steering the city toward further growth, Kejriwal reversed its progress, he alleged.

“Kejriwal has repeatedly betrayed the people of Delhi. His policies are nothing more than a sham. Today, he is making tall promises of Rs 2,100 but the reality is that people haven’t even got Rs 1,000 as promised by AAP dispensation,” Yadav claimed.

The Delhi Congress Committee President asserted that the issue extends beyond Delhi, with people in Punjab also suffering from AAP’s unfulfilled promises.

He pointed out that, to this day, the people of Punjab are still waiting for the Rs 1,000 payments promised by the AAP government.

Additionally, Yadav criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for raising the Rohingya issue just before the Delhi elections and questioned how the state government could held accountable for matters of national security.
