Delhi HC Issues Notice To Police On AAP MLA Naresh Balian’s Bail Plea In MCOCA Case

The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Delhi Police seeking a response to the bail plea filed by Naresh Balian, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Uttam Nagar, who was arrested in a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

The court will hear the matter again on January 23. Balian had approached the Delhi High Court seeking bail after the Rouse Avenue Court rejected his initial bail application. He was arrested by Delhi Police on December 4 in connection with the MCOCA case.

Balian had earlier been arrested on November 30 in a case involving extortion. However, after securing bail in that matter, Delhi Police re-arrested him under MCOCA.

According to the police, the case involving Balian and gangster Kapil Sangwan is from 2023, when an FIR was filed against them. Sangwan, a notorious gangster, is currently residing in the United Kingdom. Both Balian and Sangwan hail from Najafgarh, Delhi.

Kapil Sangwan is considered the mastermind behind the 2017 murder of Haryana’s Nafe Singh and is also believed to have orchestrated the killings of wrestler Ballu Pehlwan and BJP leader Surender Matiyala.
