Court Orders CBI To Unseal Three Floors In UPSC Candidates’ Death Case

The Rouse Avenue Court has ordered the CBI to remove its seal from three floors of a building linked to the UPSC candidates’ death case.

Three aspirants died in July 2024 in the basement of a coaching center in Old Rajendra Nagar.

Chief District Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna ruled that the CBI had no authority to seal the entire building. She stated that the incident occurred only in the basement.

The court directed the agency to return the ground, first, and second floors to their owners.

The judge also clarified that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) could take action against the building owners for any violations.

The court overturned the December 17, 2024, order by the ACMM, which had refused to lift the seal on the upper floors.

Owners Rishi Khanna and Gurmeet Singh had challenged the ACMM’s decision.

They argued that their floors had no link to the incident. They also stated that they had canceled the lease agreements.

The court accepted their plea. It granted them full rights to enter and use their floors.

The judge ruled that only the affected basement should remain sealed.

This Rouse Avenue Court ruling restores property rights to the owners. It also ensures that only the relevant area stays under investigation.

The decision allows rightful owners to resume normal use of their space while legal proceedings continue.
