CJI & Supreme Court Judges Embark On Two-Day Visit To Rajasthan’s Ranthambore

In a rare yet significant retreat, Chief Justice of India BR Gavai and several Supreme Court judges, accompanied by their spouses, have left for a two-day visit to Ranthambore in Rajasthan.

Sources said the judges will return to Delhi by the evening of 14 September.

The Rajasthan High Court and the state administration are closely coordinating the visit, personally overseeing arrangements to ensure a smooth experience for the dignitaries.

Coordinated Effort by State Administration

Officials from the Rajasthan High Court and the state government have actively coordinated the logistical arrangements for the judges’ stay and travel.

The judiciary is using the visit to take a brief break from the intense workload of the Supreme Court, choosing a serene and historic setting for this purpose.

The Ranthambore National Park, located in the Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan, is one of the most famous tiger reserves in India and a popular destination for wildlife tourism.

The trip is expected to include a jungle safari, along with informal interactions among the members of the judiciary.

This is not the first instance of such a collective retreat. Earlier this year, on 11–12 January, then Acting Chief Justice, along with 24 Supreme Court judges, visited Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh for a two-day tour.

The local High Court and administration also supported and facilitated that visit.

Judges often use such unofficial visits as opportunities to engage outside the courtroom, promote collegiality, and hold informal discussions on judicial matters.

While the judiciary continues to handle a heavy caseload and significant constitutional matters, brief visits such as this offer a momentary pause for reflection and rejuvenation.

They also underscore the importance of well-being in high-pressure roles within public service.

The Chief Justice and the accompanying judges will resume court duties after their return, with the Supreme Court scheduled to hear several key cases in the coming week.
