The Rouse Avenue Court has issued a criminal defamation notice to BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj in a case filed by AAP leader and former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. Swaraj has been asked to appear either in person or through her lawyer.
The court will record statements from Jain and two witnesses on December 20. The case stems from allegations by Jain that Swaraj made defamatory statements during a television interview on October 5, 2023. Jain claims the remarks tarnished his reputation and were politically motivated.

In the interview, Bansuri Swaraj reportedly alleged that Rs 3 crore in cash, 1.8 kg of gold, and 133 gold coins were recovered from Jain’s house. Jain has denied these claims, calling them baseless and intended to damage his public image.
The interview, widely broadcast and viewed by millions, allegedly portrayed false information. Jain asserts that the statements aimed to defame him and gain political advantage.
Satyendar Jain is currently out on bail in a money laundering case. He was arrested on May 30, 2022, following an FIR filed by the CBI in 2017.
This defamation case marks the latest legal battle between the AAP and BJP, highlighting the rising tensions between political rivals. Further developments are awaited after the December 20 hearing.
