Allahabad High Court Bar Polls End With Nearly 79% Turnout

The annual election of the Allahabad High Court Bar Association for 2026-27 concluded peacefully on Thursday, with 263 candidates contesting various positions, including president and general secretary.

Advocates cast their votes between 9 AM and 5:30 PM at the High Court cricket ground.

Senior advocate and Chief Election Officer SFA Naqvi supervised the electoral process along with Sarvesh Lakshmi Kant Mishra, Vashishtha Tiwari, Rajkumar Shukla and Anubhav Shukla.

The election committee said around 11,728 voters were eligible to participate in this year’s election. Authorities printed 12,000 ballot papers and distributed 11,500 of them through 20 counters.

Around 10,050 voters exercised their franchise, resulting in a turnout of nearly 79 per cent.

The committee reported that 1,450 ballot papers returned from the counters and another 500 declared invalid were destroyed at the polling venue.

Officials subsequently sealed all 1,950 destroyed ballots in a designated box in the presence of the presidential and general secretary candidates or their authorised observers.

The election authorities deployed supervisory committee members and assistant election officers to oversee arrangements at the polling centre.

Personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force, district police and other police administration officials also remained present to maintain security and ensure orderly voting.

The election committee thanked all candidates, advocates, officials and High Court Bar Association employees for their cooperation throughout the process.

It credited the dedicated efforts of the employees, who worked continuously during the election, with helping the annual poll conclude smoothly and without disruption.
