In a bid to make Maha Kumbh 2025 a grand and environmentally sustainable event, the youth of Uttar Pradesh have joined hands with the state government in a massive campaign aimed at promoting awareness, cleanliness, and greenery for the upcoming festival.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, efforts are underway to transform Prayagraj into a vibrant and eco-friendly hub for the world’s largest religious gathering.
On Sunday, youth from various districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Ayodhya, Gonda, Basti, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, and Kushinagar, gathered at the Chandrashekhar Azad Park in Prayagraj.
This event, organized to raise awareness about the Maha Kumbh, saw students from universities and colleges across the state showcasing their talents through colorful paintings.
The artworks, which adorned canvases, depicted the religious and cultural significance of Maha Kumbh, while also illustrating the importance of cleanliness during the event.
The initiative, led by SDM and Mela Authority Officer Abhinav Pathak, is part of the ‘Paint My City’ campaign aimed at reimagining Prayagraj’s identity for the upcoming Maha Kumbh.
Students from local colleges and universities have actively participated in the campaign, using art to encourage citizens to make the event not only grand in scale but also environmentally conscious.
“We are making Maha Kumbh 2025 a green, plastic-free event. Starting from Sunday, this initiative will held every weekend to spread awareness about a sustainable Maha Kumbh,” said Pathak.
He further emphasized that the goal is to reduce plastic usage and promote green alternatives, ensuring that Maha Kumbh becomes an example of environmental stewardship.
A major part of the green initiative however includes extensive tree plantation.
Over 1,34,000 saplings have been planted in the first phase along the banks of the Ganga River, with additional planting efforts continuing as part of the preparation for Maha Kumbh.
As the festival draws closer, efforts to increase the green cover in Prayagraj will be ramped up, including plantings along parade routes to create a greener atmosphere for the visitors.
Local youth, children, and even senior citizens have eagerly joined the campaign, painting nature-themed artworks that will serve as an inspiration for pilgrims from across India and the world.
Meanwhile, these images are likely to resonate with the eco-conscious message of the Maha Kumbh, encouraging all to take part in preserving the environment.
In addition to the artistic activities, the state government has launched campaigns in schools and colleges across Prayagraj.
These include workshops and social engagement programs aimed at educating the youth about Maha Kumbh’s importance and encouraging them to share the vision of a cleaner, greener, and more divine event with the larger community.
As part of the efforts to further raise awareness about the green Maha Kumbh, a series of weekend activities including painting competitions and social outreach programs will continue throughout the preparation phase.
These initiatives will not only emphasize the spiritual significance of Maha Kumbh but also promote a message of sustainability, aiming to create an event that is both magnificent and environmentally responsible.
With this wave of youth involvement, Prayagraj is quickly transforming in preparation for Maha Kumbh 2025.
From art to environmental action, the city’s streets, colleges, and parks are becoming canvases for a new, eco-friendly identity, one that reflects the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for a grand, clean, and green Maha Kumbh.
