‘Your Courage Saved Lives’: PM Modi Speaks To Flydubai Pilot Smit Machchhar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke to Indian pilot Captain Smit Machchhar, who is recovering in the UAE after suffering injuries while confronting an attack inside the cockpit of a Flydubai flight.

During the conversation, Machchhar briefed the Prime Minister about the incident and spoke about what gave him the courage to confront the co-pilot who allegedly attacked him.

PM Modi praised his courage and resourcefulness and wished him a speedy recovery.

The conversation came a day after the Prime Minister spoke to Machchhar’s family on Thursday.

PM Modi praised the pilot’s bravery and assured the family that Indian missions were providing all possible assistance.

Indian Ambassador to the UAE Deepak Mittal met Machchhar and his family at the hospital and said the pilot was speaking, smiling and laughing and remained in good spirits.

Mittal said Machchhar was receiving good medical treatment, while the Indian Embassy remained in regular contact with UAE authorities.

Machchhar was earlier airlifted from Saudi Arabia to the UAE after the flight made an emergency landing in Tabuk.

The incident occurred on a Dubai-Tel Aviv flight after the co-pilot allegedly attacked Machchhar inside the cockpit.

Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the attack and the possible motive behind it.

The pilot’s actions during the incident helped passengers and crew respond to the emergency. The aircraft was subsequently diverted to Tabuk for an emergency landing. Machchhar was later transferred to the UAE for further medical treatment.
