Yogi Government Launches Massive Green Initiative For Maha Kumbh 2025

In a concerted effort to transform Prayagraj into a model of environmental sustainability for the upcoming Maha Kumbh 2025, the Yogi Adityanath administration has initiated an ambitious tree-planting campaign.

The initiative aims to plant a total of 2,71,000 saplings, significantly enhancing the city’s green cover ahead of the major religious gathering.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has outlined a vision for a clean and green Maha Kumbh, prompting a collaborative effort among various state departments, including the Forest Department, Municipal Corporation, and the Prayagraj Development Authority.

Together, they are executing a comprehensive plan to ensure that the city is not only clean but also aesthetically pleasing, devoid of plastic waste and enriched with greenery.

According to Divisional Forest Officer Arvind Kumar, the Forest Department will be responsible for planting 1,49,000 saplings with a budget allocation of Rs 29 crores.

A significant portion of this effort will focus on the Saraswati Hi-Tech City, where they will plant 87,000 saplings over 20 hectares, featuring a diverse array of both small and large plants.

The initiative also includes the development of green strips along 18 major roads leading into Prayagraj, where volunteers will plant approximately 50,000 saplings, including trees such as Kadamba, Neem, and Amaltash, on both sides of the roads.

This strategic approach aims to create a lush welcome for visitors arriving for the Maha Kumbh.

In addition to the Forest Department’s efforts, the Municipal Corporation and the Prayagraj Development Authority are likely to plant 61,000 saplings in urban areas, further contributing to the city’s greening efforts.

This collaborative work is to be completed by the end of November, setting a strong foundation for the environmental goals of Maha Kumbh 2025.
