Banerjee hinted at alleged electoral irregularities, citing a narrow winning margin of 48 votes in Mumbai North West constituency during the last Lok Sabha elections. “They have done like this in many other areas… otherwise this time (2024) they would not have come (to office), I am sure of that…” the Chief Minister stated.
Her comments came after meeting Shiv Sena (UBT) President Uddhav Thackeray and his family at their residence in Bandra, Mumbai. Thackeray described Banerjee as “my sister” and urged the media to keep politics out of it, but promised “we shall hold a separate press conference on all this.”
Banerjee is also scheduled to meet Nationalist Congress Party (SP) President Sharad Pawar, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, and other leaders on her visit to Maharashtra, highlighting her close personal rapport with these leaders. Mamata Banerjee is known to enjoy a close personal rapport with Pawar Sr. and Thackeray and makes it a point to meet them whenever she visits Maharashtra.
