Vietnamese Prime Minister Received With Ceremonial Welcome At Rashtrapati Bhavan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh were present for a formal welcome on Thursday at Rashtrapati Bhavan’s forecourt.

PM Modi met his colleague during this time, and the two leaders greeted each other with a hearty embrace. Following this, the PM of Vietnam examined a Guard of Honour maintained by the Indian armed forces.

Following that, PM Modi and Pham Minh Chinh had meetings with the ministers and delegates of the two nations. Later, at Rajghat, Pham Minh paid his respects to Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation.

He will have one-on-one talks with Prime Minister Modi, who will also give the visiting team a luncheon.

With the intention of deepening the already strong bilateral ties between the two nations, Chinh arrived in New Delhi late on Tuesday night for a three-day state visit.

During the visit, the Vietnamese PM is also expected to meet with Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and President Droupadi Murmu.

External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishanakar the visiting prime minister on Wednesday, who expressed gratitude for his advice on strengthening bilateral ties between India and Vietnam.

“Honoured to call on PM Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam during his State visit to India. Appreciate his guidance on our bilateral relationship and on regional and global issues of mutual interest,” the EAM said in a post on ‘X’.

Vietnamese PM addressed a gathering a day before

On Wednesday, the prime minister of Vietnam spoke at a business gathering held in the country’s capital. According to him, India’s desire to investigate investment opportunities in Vietnam would expand collaboration into new domains like energy, digitalization, transportation, and the economy.

Additionally, he praised the two countries’ trade and economic collaboration as a “beacon of cooperation” and urged growing bilateral commerce to $20 billion.

He also praised PM Modi’s leadership in India’s development.

Since the creation of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during PM Modi’s visit to Hanoi in 2016, relations between India and Vietnam have been improving.
