Veer Bal Diwas: Sahibzade Did Not Bow Down Before The Mughals, Embraced Death But Did Not Change Their Religion

Veer Bal Diwas: Today i.e. on 26 December, Veer Bal Diwas is being celebrated in the country. ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ program has been organized at Major Dhyanchand National Stadium in the capital Delhi. Now it will be celebrated every year on this day on 26 December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced this on January 9 this year on the birth anniversary of 10th Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. To express respect for the martyrdom of Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, the two sons of Shri Guru Gobind Singh, the celebration of Veer Bal Diwas has been started.

Very few people in the world know the stories of the bravery of both the sons of Govind Singh, Sahibzada Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh. Let us tell you what is Veer Bal Diwas, what has been its history and what is its importance?

What Is The History Of Veer Bal Diwas?

The 10th Guru of Sikhs in Punjab, Gobind Singh had four sons. All four of them were called Sahibzade Khalsa. In 1699, Gobind Singh established the Khalsa Panth with the aim of protecting the people of the Sikh community from religious persecution. Guru Gobind Singh had three wives and had four sons. Zorawar and Fateh, Ajit and Jujhar. All four were killed by the Mughal army.

Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh had shown bravery and courage towards their religion in the war with the Mughals. In this war, Guru Gobind Singh made the Mughals chew gram under their teeth.

Mughals Cheated Guru Govind

There was a war going on between Guru Gobind Singh and the Mughal army for the Anandpur Sahib fort. The Mughal army wanted to rule the Anandpur fort. But Guru Govind was not ready to accept defeat at any cost. When Aurangzeb could not defeat him in a direct battle, he sent a letter to Guruji. Wrote in that letter, I swear on the Quran, if you vacate the fort of Anandpur, I will let you go from here. After which Guruji thought it right to do so. But even after that Aurangzeb betrayed Guru ji and attacked his army.

Both Sahibzads Sacrificed

The war went on for a long time on the banks of Sarsa river and Guruji’s entire family moved here and there. After which both Sahibzade Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh were taken prisoner by the Mughal army. During this, Aurangzeb’s Mughal army asked him to convert to Islam, but both Sahibzadas refused. The next day he was brought to the court of Wazir Khan and he asked both the Sahibzads to convert to Islam. He said, if you accept Muslim religion then you will get your wish. Hearing this, Sahibzade said, we love our own religion the most. After which both the Sahibzads were martyred by being buried alive in the wall.
