In a significant development, the Prayag Commissionerate Police is gearing up for another major action in the infamous Umesh Pal murder case. Authorities have decided to impose gangster charges against Ali and Umar, the sons of the mafia boss Atiq Ahmed. This move is expected to tighten the legal proceeding around the accused.

Preparation Of Gang Chart

The cops are diligently preparing a comprehensive gang chart that will include the names of all the people involve in the murder case. The incident that shook the region occurred on the evening of February 24, 2023, when Umesh Pal and his two government security personnel were brutally killed in a bomb attack in the Jayantipur area of Dhoomanganj police station. In subsequent encounters, four suspects, including Atiq’s younger son Asad, were killed by the police and the STF.

However, the hunt continues for other key suspects. Atiq’s associates, Sabir, Armaan, and Guddu Muslim, each carrying a bounty of five lakhs, are still at large. Moreover, Atiq’s wife, Shaista Parveen, along with his brother Ashraf’s wife Zainab Fatima and sister Ayesha Noori, are also wanted, with rewards ranging from 25,000 to 50,000 announced for their capture.

Confiscation Of Properties

Currently, 12 individuals have been incarcerated in connection with the Umesh Pal murder case, including Atiq’s sons Ali and Umar, brother-in-law Ikhlaq, lawyer Khan Shaulat Hanif, Vijay Mishra, and Sadakat Khan. The police have also indicated that, following the imposition of gangster charges, there will be steps to block properties acquired through criminal activities under Section 14(1) of the CrPC.

Sources suggest that Atiq’s son, Ali or Umar, may be designated as the leader of the gang, further intensifying the focus on dismantling their criminal operations. This decisive action by the Prayag Commissionerate Police marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing crackdown against organized crime in the region.
