Industry sources have stated that later this month, in the southwestern city of Gwangju, South Korea, full-fledged manufacturing of Hyundai’s all-electric compact SUVs, Casper Electric, would get off. By the end of the year, 21,400 units are expected to be produced.
In international markets, the EV will be marketed under the name Inster. This summer, it will debut in South Korea, then Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific.
The namesake city of Gwangju, which is about 270 kilometers southwest of Seoul, is home to GGM. GGM is a Hyundai Motor contract manufacturer. The company just announced that it will start full-scale production of the Hyundai’s all-electric SUVs on July 15.

By December, GGM plans to have produced 21,400 units, up 23% from its original target of 17,400 units. According to the Yonhap news agency, the plant started producing Casper Electric on a trial basis in February and has since produced about 300 units.
Casper Electric, which debuted at the “2024 Busan International Motor Show” last month, is the electric variant of the 2021-introduced Casper, but it has a number of updated enhancements.
With a nickel-cobalt-manganese battery that holds 49 kWh, Casper Electric can travel up to 315 kilometers between charges. In just thirty minutes, it can be charged from 10% to 80%.
