Tripta Tyagi Seeks Forgiveness After Instructing Students To Slap Muslim Classmate, Says She Made A Mistake

Tripta Tyagi, an educator from Uttar Pradesh, has released a video message in which she emphasizes that her actions of instructing students to slap their Muslim classmates were not driven by any communal agenda. With a humble gesture of folded hands, she reiterated her acknowledgement of making a mistake in addition to earnestly seeking forgiveness.

In the video, one can see Tripta Tyagi, a 60-year-old teacher and principal at Neha Public School in Muzaffarnagar, clarifying, “I committed a mistake, but it was not fueled by any Hindu-Muslim bias. The students had neglected their homework, and my aim was to encourage them to commit the lessons to memory.”

Explaining her actions, Tripta Tyagi explained her physical limitations, stating, “Due to my physical constraints, I was unable to stand up, so I requested some students to gently prompt him to focus on his studies through a few slaps.”

Despite facing a legal complaint from the boy’s family, Tripta Tyagi denied any intent to divide along religious lines and suggested her video was tampered with to spark a “Hindu-Muslim issue.” She asserted, “I wholeheartedly admit my mistake with folded hands. However, I had no intention of instigating any Hindu-Muslim discord. I teach many Muslim students who are unable to afford school fees, and I provide them with free education. There was never a notion of inflicting hardship on Muslim children.”

In response to the police complaint, Tripta Tyagi is currently under investigation for charges of causing voluntary harm and intentional insult with the intention to provoke disruption of peace. These offences are considered bailable and do not warrant immediate arrest.

As a result of this incident, the school’s operations have been temporarily suspended, and education department officials have outlined plans to transfer its students to neighboring schools.

While interacting with NDTV, the boy’s father expressed his distress following the episode, revealing that he struggled to eat for a couple of days after the incident. He also stated that the child underwent a medical evaluation and is recovering well.
