Tragic Incident: Bus Speeds into Andhra Depot Waiting Area, Crushing 3 Lives

On Monday, a tragic incident occurred at Vijayawada’s Pandit Nehru Bus Station, a major transportation hub serving both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. An Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus was involved in a horrifying accident that resulted in the death of three people and left several others injured. The incident occurred at approximately 8:20 am, as reported by the news agency.

Disturbing CCTV footage of the accident reveals that the stationary bus suddenly accelerated, surging over the platform and crashing into the steel railings surrounding the seating area. This horrifying impact led to the bus crushing metal chairs and unfortunate waiting passengers beneath it. Shockingly, instead of reversing the bus after the initial collision, the driver chose to move forward, causing further devastation.

M Yesu Danam, a senior official, provided insight into the incident, highlighting the driver’s decision to move forward instead of reversing the bus. The police have since registered a case to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

This accident serves as a somber reminder of the potential dangers that can arise in transportation hubs like the Vijayawada bus station, emphasizing the need for stringent safety measures and precautions to prevent such incidents in the future.
