Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned recent terror attacks on Indian soil as no longer merely proxy wars but as part of Pakistan’s deliberate, state-sponsored war strategy.
Speaking at a large public gathering in Gandhinagar’s Mahatma Mandir, he inaugurated development projects worth ₹5,536 crore, marking 20 years of Gujarat’s urban growth.
Recalling the horrors of the 1947 partition, PM Modi said, “When Maa Bharati was divided, the shackles should have been broken, but instead the country was split into three parts. That very night, the first terror attack struck Kashmir. Pakistan illegally took a part of our motherland using terrorism.”
The Prime Minister further added, “If those terrorists had been eliminated then, as Sardar Patel wished, the ongoing chain of terror attacks over the last 75 years could have been stopped.”
PM Modi highlighted decades of conflict, mentioning the brutal Pahalgam terror attack as a recent example.
“We tolerated these attacks for 75 years. Every time we went to war with Pakistan, the Indian armed forces gave a befitting reply and defeated them. Pakistan realised it could not win a conventional war and began a proxy war instead,” the PM stated.
He condemned Pakistan’s use of trained terrorists to target innocent civilians, pilgrims, travellers, and tourists alike, saying, “Wherever terrorists found an opportunity, they struck. We kept tolerating it. Should we keep tolerating bullets? Should we not respond with bombs? We must uproot terrorism from its very roots.”
Reaffirming India’s commitment to peace, PM Modi invoked the ancient principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the world is one family.
“We have always sought peace and wish the same for our neighbours. But when provoked repeatedly, remember, this is also a land of heroes,” the Prime Minister asserted.
PM Modi stated that the post-‘Operation Sindoor’ scenario changed the narrative completely.
Prime Minister Modi remarked, “Earlier, we called it a proxy war, but after May 6, we cannot afford that mistake. Within 22 minutes, nine terrorist hideouts were identified and destroyed — a clear, decisive message.”
He criticised the opposition, saying, “This time, everything was done openly, before cameras, leaving no room for doubt. Pakistan itself has provided the proof.”
The Prime Minister emphasised that terrorists killed after May 6 received full state honours in Pakistan, with coffins draped in the national flag and military salutes, exposing the well-planned nature of their war strategy.
“You are already at war, and you will face the response accordingly,” PM Modi emphasised.
PM Modi contrasted India’s focus on development with Pakistan’s shedding of ‘rivers of blood’.
He further urged citizens to reflect on past compromises, citing the Indus Water Treaty of 1960, which restricted India’s use of water resources in Jammu and Kashmir.
He revealed that gates meant to clear river sediments remained closed for six decades, causing reservoirs to dwindle to 2-3 per cent capacity.
Ending on a hopeful note, PM Modi reaffirmed India’s desire for peace and progress. “We do not seek hostility with anyone. We want to live in peace and work for the betterment of the world. Our efforts continue with dedication for all Indians.”
This speech signals India’s unwavering stand against terrorism and its commitment to protecting national sovereignty while pursuing peaceful progress.
