Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Summoned by Delhi Police in Amit Shah’s Doctored Video Case

Telangana Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, has been summoned by Delhi Police on May 1 in connection with the doctored video case involving Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The police have requested Reddy to bring his electronic devices for investigation. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell initiated the investigation following a complaint from the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The complaint pertains to a manipulated video of Amit Shah, allegedly suggesting plans to eliminate reservations for Muslims in Telangana.

The case has been registered under various sections of the IT Act and concerns Shah’s remarks made during a ‘Vijaya Sankalp Sabha’ in Telangana on April 23. Shah’s statement about abolishing what he termed as an “unconstitutional Muslim reservation” if the BJP were to come to power in the state has stirred controversy.

The Ministry of Home Affairs provided additional evidence, including links and handles involved in circulating the doctored videos of the Home Minister. Following the registration of the case, the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) Unit of the Special Cell commenced its investigation.’

Meanwhile, the opposition, particularly the Congress, has criticized the BJP and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), accusing them of being against reservation policies. Reddy had previously alleged that the RSS, upon its founding in 1925, aimed to declare the nation a “Hindu country” and abolish reservations within 100 years, by 2025.
