In a unified effort to bring to life the Yogi government’s vision of a grand and clean Maha Kumbh 2025, government agencies, public representatives, and local citizens are collaborating to ensure the success of this historic event. As part of this initiative, the Swachhata Rath Yatra was launched in Prayagraj to promote cleanliness and raise awareness among the public. The campaign has drawn significant participation from the community, underscoring the collective commitment to maintaining a pristine environment for the festival.
The Swachhata Rath Yatra aims to ensure that Prayagraj remains clean and welcoming for the millions of devotees and tourists expected to attend Maha Kumbh 2025. The Maha Kumbh Nagar route, which passes through the city, will see the implementation of this cleanliness initiative to create a hygienic environment for visitors throughout the event.
The rally was flagged off by Prayagraj Mayor Umesh Chand Ganesh Kesharwani from Chowk Kotwali. In his address, the Mayor emphasized that the Swachhata Rath Yatra aligns with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s commitment to hosting a clean Maha Kumbh. He described the event as a ‘Jan Jagran Yatra,’ designed to make Prayagraj cleaner, healthier, and more disciplined. He urged citizens to refrain from littering, use dustbins, and avoid single-use plastics during the event.
The Swachhata Rath Yatra received enthusiastic support from the local population, with many actively participating in the cleanliness campaign. Organized by the Municipal Corporation of Prayagraj, the event kicked off from Kotwali Chowk with the goal of fostering cleanliness and public awareness ahead of Maha Kumbh 2025.
A grand clean chariot, decorated with a majestic statue of Mother Ganga and sculptures of sadhus symbolizing the Maha Kumbh, formed the centerpiece of the procession. The chariot was also adorne with trees and plants, further emphasizing the importance of environmental preservation. The Yatra traversed multiple routes across the city before concluding at the Ram Bhawan intersection.

Street play artists joined the Yatra, carrying colorful dustbins and performing skits to raise awareness about waste segregation. They highlighted the importance of separating wet and dry waste and using separate dustbins for each. A cleanliness-theme music band reinforce the message by performing throughout the Yatra, amplifying the call for a clean Prayagraj during Maha Kumbh 2025.
The event saw active participation from Safai Mitras (sanitation workers) and Municipal Corporation staff, who played a crucial role in keeping the city clean. Their involvement emphasized the importance of teamwork in maintaining the cleanliness of the city as it prepares for the massive influx of visitors.
With the Swachhata Rath Yatra underway, Prayagraj is taking significant strides toward creating a clean, welcoming environment for Maha Kumbh 2025, ensuring that the event remains memorable and enjoyable for all attendees.
