Sunita, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has accused the authorities of conspiring to keep her husband in jail, likening the situation to “dictatorship” and “emergency”. Allegedly, following the Supreme Court’s indication of bail for Kejriwal in a money laundering case related to the excise policy, the BJP intervened and orchestrated his arrest by the CBI on what the AAP claims is a fabricated charge.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) formally arrested Kejriwal in connection with an alleged scam involving the excise policy. Seeking five-day custody, the CBI’s move came immediately after Kejriwal secured bail on June 20 in the money laundering case linked to the excise policy, which was previously withdrawn by his government in July 2022 following a recommendation for a CBI inquiry.

Kejriwal, who has been in custody since April 1, faced a critical health incident during his court appearance due to severely low blood sugar levels. The AAP has vehemently condemned the arrest, accusing the BJP of resorting to oppressive measures to suppress Kejriwal, who remains defiant despite the challenges.
