Union government, today, has hiked the subsidy of LPG Gas cylinders that are under Ujjwala Scheme by Rs 100. This means that one who are paying Rs 700 per cylinder are now required to pay Rs 600. The Ujjwala Scheme has been launched by the Union government ever since Narendra Modi government came to power.

The scheme was launched primarily for the poor women of the nation so that they can get rid of cooking on the stoves which uses coal as the fuel. The market price of per 14.2 kg cylinder stands at Rs 903.
Last month the union government has announced the expansion of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna in order to add 75 lakhs poor households at an estimated cost of Rs 1650 crore. This move of centre was confirmed by the Union Minister Anurag Thakur

This move of centre is seen to be a welcome move as more and more people living below poverty line will be encouraged to enroll themselves in the scheme that will result in the less usage of coal and hence the low emission of carbon in the atmosphere which results in the climate being hot. Thereby both economically and environmentally this move is indeed a good one.
