Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during the virtual foundation stone-laying ceremony for IKEA’s Noida store, highlighted the state’s economic progress over the last seven and a half years. He said Uttar Pradesh has become a preferred investment destination, earning trust from domestic and international investors. IKEA’s investment is a testament to this confidence.
Since 2017, the state has emphasized infrastructure development, skill enhancement, and promoting traditional products through programs like ODOP (One District One Product). Adityanath also mentioned UP’s high ranking in ease of doing business and a secure law enforcement environment. He noted that Uttar Pradesh, contributing 9.2% to the national GDP, has become India’s second-largest state economy.
The Chief Minister credited the state’s industrial development policy, implemented in 2017, for connecting investments to job creation. He also pointed out a significant drop in the unemployment rate over the past seven and a half years. By the end of the year, the Noida, Greater Noida, and Yamuna Authority regions will be connected by public transportation, including the upcoming Noida International Airport.
Swedish Ambassador Jan Thesleff, Industry Minister Nand Gopal Gupta, and IKEA India CEO Susanne Pulverer also attended the event.
