Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe To Attend Modi’s Oath Taking Ceremony

In a unanimous decision, NDA allies have declared Narendra Modi their leader and the next Prime Minister of India. Sri Lankan President Wickremesinghe is one of the guests who will attend the swearing-in ceremony. The ceremony is likely to take place on June 8.

Wickremesinghe had called Narendra Modi to extend his wishes for the BJP-led NDA’s electoral victory. Narendra Modi invites Sri Lankan President to attend the oath-taking ceremony on the same phone call.

The President’s Media Division of Sri Lanka shares the information about the invitation. The X handle named ‘President’s Media Division of Sri Lanka-PMD’ shared the information. The handle wrote on platform X, “President Ranil Wickremesinghe congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on @BJP4 led NDA’s electoral victory in a phone call.”

“During a conversation, Prime Minister @narendramodi invited President Wickremesinghe to his swearing-in-ceremony, which president @RW_UNP accepted,” the handle maintained in the second thread of the same post.

Before this, the President had congratulated Narendra Modi with a post on X. Extending his warm wishes on NDA’s victory, President Wickremesinghe said that his country is looking forward to working with India. He also aspires to strengthen the ties between the two countries.

A day after the poll results were announced, a cabinet meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi recommended the dissolution of the 17th Lok Sabha. The 17th Lok Sabha term was ending on 16 June.

As JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar and TDP’s Naidu have given the green signal, the formation of BJP-led NDA government is certain. The oath-taking ceremony is likely to take place on June 8.
