Benchmark equity indices climbed in early trade on Thursday, owing to positive Asian market trends.
The 30-share BSE Sensex soared 495.89 points, or 0.66 percent to 74,878.13. The NSE Nifty surged 144.35 points, or 0.63 percent to 22,764.70.
Power Finance Corp, Adani Power, GAIL(India), RECL, HAL, Bharat Electronics, IRFC, Adani Energy Solut., and DLF were the top gainers.
Among the laggards were Hero MotoCorp, Godrej Consumer, Dabur India, Hindustan Unilever, Colgate-Palmolive, and Hindalco.
In Asian markets, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, South Korea, Malaysia, Tokyo, and Taiwan were trading higher, while Shanghai, and Thailand were trading lower.
US markets concluded in positive territory on Wednesday.
Brent crude gained 0.35 percent to USD 78.76 per barrel.
According to exchange data, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) sold equities worth Rs 5,656.26 crore on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, the Sensex jumped 2156.66 points, or 2.99 percent to 72,235.71, while the Nifty inched up 688.95 points, or 3.42 percent to 22,573.45.
