SRCC Centenary: PM Modi To Return To College 13 Years After His Last Visit

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely return to Delhi University’s Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), nearly 13 years after his previous visit, for the institution’s centenary celebrations.

PM Modi last visited the college in 2013 as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, a year before he became Prime Minister. His return comes as SRCC marks a century since its establishment and reflects on its contribution to higher education.

During his 2013 visit, PM Modi delivered a major address in the national capital and spoke about the importance of viewing situations from different perspectives. He used a glass of water to explain his point, saying that while an optimist sees it as half full and a pessimist sees it as half empty, he viewed it as completely full — half with water and half with air.

The Prime Minister’s latest visit comes as political parties and public institutions increasingly focus on connecting with younger audiences, including Gen Z, whose expectations and communication preferences continue to evolve.

The centenary programme will likely begin at around 7 PM on the SRCC campus, where PM Modi will address the gathering and speak about the college’s 100-year journey.

Established in 1926 by industrialist and philanthropist Sir Shri Ram, SRCC is a constituent college of the University of Delhi and is known for its academic focus on Commerce, Economics and Management.

Over the past century, the institution has educated generations of students who have gone on to work in fields including business, public administration, entrepreneurship, policymaking and academia.
