Six-Times Consecutive MLA Sanjay Saraogi Appointed As The Next Bihar BJP President

After two consecutive and much-awaited changes, Pankaj Chaudhary as Uttar Pradesh party president and Nitin Nabin as National Working president, in organisational leadership, the Bhartiya Janta Party on Monday appointed Darbhanga MLA Sanjay Saraogi as Bihar BJP President.

In a letter by the General Secretary of BJP, Arun Singh, stated that JP Nadda appointed Sanjay Saraogi as the Bihar BJP President. “This appointment will be applied with immediate effect,” he added.

Who Is Sanjay Saraogi?

The six-time consecutive MLA from Darbhanga assembly since 2005, Sanjay Saraogi, belongs to the Vaisya caste, has been an ABVP worker for ten years before coming to active politics. In 1999 he was appointed as the district minister of BJYM, followed by the BJP Darbhanga City Mandal President in 2001.

Saraogi was made Revenue and Land Reforms Minister in February 2025 in Bihar Cabinet. Earlier, he was also the chairman of the Estimates Committee in 2017, a member of state working committee and also played a key role in handling many elections as the district in-charge.

Since the current Bihar BJP chief Dilip Jaiswal took oath as a minister in Nitish-led Bihar cabinet, the discussions started to began about the next BJP Bihar chief which ends today with Sanjay Saraogi.

Experienced in governance and organisation, Saraogi is considered an effective leader among Vaishya communities, who now has bigger responsibilities to increase the party base in Bihar while keeping the current voters intact, after the historic victory in the latest Bihar assembly elections.
