Silenced, Not Defeated, Says Raghav Chadha After Removal As AAP Deputy Leader In Rajya Sabha

Raghav Chadha has responded firmly after the Aam Aadmi Party removed him as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha and appointed Ashok Mittal in his place. He stated he has been ‘silenced, not defeated’, underscoring resilience rather than retreat.

In a message shared on X, Chadha asserted that he consistently raises matters concerning ordinary citizens in Parliament. He questioned the rationale behind restricting his voice, asking whether highlighting public concerns constitutes wrongdoing.

Raghav Chadha alleged that the party communicated with the Rajya Sabha Secretariat to limit his participation in debates. He emphasised that he has addressed pressing issues such as delivery workers’ challenges, escalating airport food prices, adulteration, toll burdens, taxation pressures, and telecom practices.

Chadha expressed gratitude to citizens for their continued support and reaffirmed his commitment to public service. He maintained that his silence should not be mistaken for defeat, describing himself as steadfast and prepared for future challenges.

The development follows the party’s formal communication to the Secretariat, facilitating leadership changes in the Upper House. Sanjay Singh continues as the party’s leader in the Rajya Sabha.

The party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, reportedly advised that Chadha not be allotted speaking time.

Speculation persists regarding internal differences and potential political shifts ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.

With ten members in the Rajya Sabha, largely from Punjab, the party retains a strong regional presence.

The episode, however, highlights emerging tensions within the organisation, even as both sides maintain public restraint.
