Rs 44.8 Crores were allocated as a flood aid by the Union government to Sikkim. It should be noted that the state has been ravaged by severe floods caused by cloudburst. At least 14 dead with several Army personnel missing in the flood.

An inter-ministerial team has been formed by the central government to assess the damage caused. The team to tour the state very soon. The team has been constituted by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
So far 2011 people were rescued from the floods that affected the lives of 22,034 people. This is according to the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority. The central government is monitoring the situations in Sikkim round the clock. Not only that they are helping the Sikkim government with everything possible.
Some of those helps included the deployment of adequate teams of the National Disaster Response Force, Indian Air Force helicopters, and army personnel along with necessary search and rescue equipment.
Along with that the technical teams of ministries of power, telecommunications and roads, highways, and transport are assisting in the timely restoration of damaged infrastructure and communication networks in the state.
