Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday announced 12 nationwide welfare programmes under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyaan’ to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service.
The month-long campaign will begin on September 17, PM Modi’s birthday, and conclude on October 17.
The initiative takes place every year, with thousands of party workers organising ‘seva camps’ nationwide to promote the spirit of public service.
Addressing the media with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Shah said the campaign will feature 12 categories of public welfare activities honouring the 25-year service journey of the ‘Pradhan Sevak’.
The programmes include NaMo Seva’s untold stories, blood donation camps, and musical and theatrical performances in local languages. They will feature Aangan Milan Sewa, Matru Samvad, Sewa Jyoti Kalash Yatra and Seva Mera Yogdaan.
The ‘Vadnagar to Varanasi Sewa Yatra’ will bring together youth from both ends.
Participants will travel through seven states, cover long distances and stay overnight in villages.
Shah said the campaign will cover every administrative unit across the country. It will extend to states, Union Territories, Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies and polling-booth levels.
The Seva Setu Abhiyaan will operate at block and panchayat levels. It aims to expand access to government welfare schemes among all sections of society.
Another initiative, Viksit Bharat Jan Sankalp, will encourage citizens to pledge their commitment to Viksit Bharat.
A separate programme will allow beneficiaries to share stories of the changes in their lives over the past 20 years.
