In a major relief to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, SC has granted him bail in connection to alleged corruption linked to Delhi Excise Policy.
With this development in political landscape, political leaders have reacted to release of Kejriwal. Reacting to Kejriwal’s release, Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva said that Kejriwal should resign from the Chief Ministerial position of Delhi.
The BJP leader said, “Arvind Kejriwal has now joined the club of AAP leaders who are out of prison on bail.”
He further commented, “Receiving bail is not a significant achievement. The investigating agency holds proof against Kejriwal, following which the court’s remark came that prove his arrest was legal.”
“As the trial will continue he is likely to face a long sentence soon,” he added.
On AAP’s remarks that “It’s the victory of truth’, the BJP leader said, “First of all, they need to decide when the victory of truth happens for him and when truth is defeated.”

“Kejriwal will certainly have to explain it to the people. This is the same person who used to question the courts and raise doubts about the judiciary. Now he must decide what has happened,” he added.
Refusing any impact of Kejriwal’s release on Haryana elections, Congress leader Pratap Singh Bajwa said bail and election are two different things. “Bail and elections are two different things. It’s just a procedure of the court. The government took action, remanded him, and jailed him. Now, like any Indian citizen, he went to court, and the court granted him bail. This has nothing to do with the Haryana elections; it’s a separate issue. His bail will have no significant impact on Haryana polls,” Bajwa said.
On the other hand, BJP’s Member of Parliament from Delhi, Manoj Tiwari said that Arvind Kejriwal should step down as CM as SC has termed Kejriwal’s arrest as legal.
“Arvind Kejriwal has been in jail for about six months. Now, the court has upheld his arrest as legal. In light of such stern observations by the court, he must quit the post on ethical grounds,” Tiwari demanded.
