The Lok Sabha witnessed intense debates as the discussion on Operation Sindoor began on Monday.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Gaurav Gogoi, and several MPs engaged in a vigorous exchange on national security.
The debate continued on Tuesday with key interventions from Home Minister Amit Shah, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, and BJP MP Sambit Patra.
Taking a firm stance, Sambit Patra declared that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is celebrated as a hero in India, while Rahul Gandhi’s remarks have earned him admiration in Pakistan.
He referenced several Pakistani media outlets that highlighted Rahul Gandhi’s sharp criticism of the government during Operation Sindoor, framing him as a hero across the border.
“Operation Sindoor has just taken place; an even bigger storm is coming,” Patra warned, hinting at further strong actions in national security.
Following Patra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the House, describing the current parliamentary session as a ‘celebration of victory’ over Pakistan’s terror infrastructure.
He stated, “I stand here to present India’s case and hold a mirror to those who refuse to see the truth.”
Turning to the recent Pahalgam terror attack, PM Modi condemned the brutal act where terrorists reportedly asked innocent civilians their religion before shooting them.
“This was a cruel and calculated attempt to incite riots,” he said, commending the people of India for maintaining unity and thwarting the conspiracy.
The debate on Operation Sindoor has become one of the defining discussions of the parliamentary session, highlighting India’s national security stance and the political divide on the issue.
Sambit Patra’s strong words and PM Modi’s call for unity underscored the government’s emphasis on counter-terrorism measures and the need to stay vigilant against divisive forces, both domestic and external.
