Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Dr Dinesh Sharma said that as individuals move closer to the truth, their confidence grows stronger. He noted that the blessings of saints often bring transformative changes in people’s lives.
The former Deputy Chief Minister added that saints have the ability to free society from the limitations of caste and religion.
According to him, they promote unity and guide people towards a more inclusive social structure rooted in shared values.
Dr Sharma stated that saints help nurture a society connected to Sanatan traditions, which contribute to the nation’s prosperity. He remarked that their presence fosters positivity and progress.
Dr Sharma also observed that India has long been recognised as a land of sages and farmers. He emphasised that the country’s prosperity continues to depend on the dedication and productivity of its farming community.
The Rajya Sabha MP attended a programme at a meditation and service centre in Vikas Khand, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. He attended the event as the chief guest.
Lal Mahendra Shiv Shakti Seva Samiti (Om Namah Shivay Ashram) organised the event to commemorate 50 years of service.
Addressing a large gathering of devotees, Dr Dinesh Sharma said that India’s Sanatan culture is among the oldest in the world. He highlighted that this tradition promotes the welfare of all living beings, including animals and birds.
The Rajya Sabha MP cited practices such as revering snakes as deities as an example of this inclusive outlook.
Dr Sharma stated that despite invasions in the past, India’s cultural identity has endured. He further described the role of a guru as central to society, noting that a guru provides direction and brings people together.
Dr Sharma expressed concern about changing social dynamics, pointing out that family relationships are weakening and disputes are increasing. He said it is troubling that parents, once regarded as equal to deities, are now often sent to old-age homes, which contradicts traditional values.
Dr Dinesh Sharma expressed confidence in India’s steady progress. He further said the country would achieve the status of a developed nation by 2047.
Several prominent figures attended the event. They included Information Commissioner PN Dwivedi, BJP spokesperson Avneesh Tyagi, Thakur Manu Pratap Singh, and Girish Mishra, among others.
