Russian Envoy Optimistic About PM Modi’s Attendance At BRICS Summit In Kazan

Expressing optimism about participation of PM Narendra Modi and 40 other leaders at BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russian Ambassador to India, Denis Alipov emphasized the significance of summit.

He noted that BRICS is committed to respecting civilizational diversity, promoting global cooperation, and maintaining independence from external pressures and double standards. “The BRICS framework is unique in its respect for civilizational diversity and its steadfast commitment to non-interference in domestic affairs,” he stated.

He added that this approach allows BRICS to operate as a platform free from external pressures, aligned with mutual respect and sovereignty. As global interest in BRICS grows, Alipov acknowledged the group’s natural trajectory toward expansion. “It is inevitable for BRICS to expand, given its increasing geopolitical and practical relevance,” he remarked.

The ambassador stressed that prospective BRICS members must be “economically ambitious” and committed to opposing “illegitimate sanctions.” He highlighted BRICS’ role in promoting the Global South’s agenda, particularly emphasizing the need for alternatives to the current global financial systems, such as a substitute for the SWIFT payments system.

“The relevance of BRICS is growing in today’s geopolitical landscape,” Alipov noted. He called for advancing alternatives to outdated financial structures that no longer serve the needs of emerging economies.

As anticipation builds for the summit in Kazan, Russia reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with BRICS partners to build a more equitable global order. The summit will address key global issues, further strengthening the BRICS alliance as a powerful voice for the Global South.
