India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day on Sunday, January 26, 2025. The day marks the 75th anniversary of India’s Constitution coming into effect. The grand Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi will showcase the nation’s cultural diversity and military strength.
President Droupadi Murmu will lead the celebrations from Kartavya Path. State governors and chief ministers will organize parallel festivities in their respective capitals. The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. and feature vibrant tableaux, marching contingents, and an air show.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin the day by paying tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Chief Guest for this year’s event, will join the ceremony. Around 10,000 special guests from diverse fields, including beneficiaries of government initiatives, will witness the celebrations.
The parade will commence with President Murmu taking the salute. It will be inaugurated by 300 cultural artists performing “Sare Jahan Se Achha” using traditional instruments like Shehnai, Mashak Been, and Dhol.
The event will include a march past by the Marching Contingent of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and the Military Band of Indonesia’s Military Academy. Tableaux from 16 states and Union Territories, as well as 10 Central ministries, will depict the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development).
The parade will conclude with a breathtaking fly-past by 40 aircraft and helicopters. Balloons carrying banners with the official 75th Constitution anniversary logo, in both English and Hindi, will be released during the national anthem.
