Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the nation on the 76th Republic Day. He emphasized honoring the Constitution’s creators and preserving its ideals.
“Happy Republic Day. Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity, and unity. May this occasion strengthen our efforts towards preserving the ideals of our Constitution and working towards a stronger and prosperous India,” he wrote on X.
President Droupadi Murmu will lead the celebrations at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. This year focuses on 75 years of the Constitution and the theme of “Jan Bhagidari” (people’s participation).
President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia will attend as the Chief Guest. Around 10,000 guests, including achievers and beneficiaries of government schemes, will witness the event. The ceremony will begin with PM Modi paying tribute to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial. He will then join other dignitaries at the saluting dais.
Parade Highlights Reflect Cultural and Military Pride
The parade will start at 10:30 a.m. President Murmu and President Subianto will arrive in the ‘Traditional Buggy,’ escorted by the President’s Bodyguard. The National Flag will be unfurled, followed by the National Anthem and a 21-gun salute using indigenous 105-mm Light Field Guns.
Cultural artists will perform “Sare Jahan Se Achha” with traditional instruments like the Shehnai, Mashak Been, and Dhol. Mi-17 1V helicopters will shower flower petals in a formation led by Group Captain Alok Ahlawat.
Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra awardees will march past, honoring their bravery. The Indonesian military will join the parade with a 152-member contingent and a 190-member band.
Republic Day 2025 celebrates India’s rich history, cultural diversity, and democratic values. PM Modi urged citizens to uphold the Constitution’s ideals and work for a prosperous future.
