Defence Minister Rajnath Singh released the strategic document Defence Forces Vision 2047: A Roadmap for a Future-Ready Indian Military during an event at South Block in New Delhi.
The vision outlines a long-term framework designed to modernise India’s armed forces and strengthen national security capabilities.
The comprehensive blueprint was prepared by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff.
It aims to transform the armed forces into a technologically advanced, integrated, and agile military capable of supporting the national objective of Viksit Bharat 2047.
Several senior defence leaders attended the launch ceremony. These included General Anil Chauhan, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Rajesh Kumar Singh, and Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh.
The document proposes strategic reforms, organisational restructuring, and capability upgrades to address evolving geopolitical and technological challenges.
It envisions a multi-domain military structure able to deter adversaries and respond effectively across the entire spectrum of conflict.
A major focus of the roadmap lies in improving coordination among the armed services.
Enhanced joint planning, integrated operations, and collaborative capability development will strengthen overall defence preparedness.
The strategy also stresses innovation, modern training systems, and advanced technologies to prepare personnel for future warfare environments.
Another key pillar involves strengthening indigenous defence production under the initiative Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Officials stated that the roadmap establishes short-term, medium-term, and long-term capability targets.
The vision ultimately seeks to build a technologically sophisticated and combat-ready military by the centenary of India’s independence.
