Rajasthan Adopts Zero Time Lag Strategy To Combat Cyber Fraud

The Rajasthan government and the banking sector have adopted a ‘Zero Time Lag’ strategy to strengthen cyber security and protect citizens from online financial fraud by ensuring immediate action on complaints.

The State Level Bankers’ Committee adopted the strategy at a Special Cyber Coordination Meeting.

Chief Secretary V Srinivas directed banks to speed up responses to complaints received through the 1930 Cyber Helpline and minimise delays in freezing fraudulent accounts.

DGP Rajeev Kumar Sharma also urged banks to strictly implement RBI guidelines to curb mule accounts and cyber-enabled financial crimes. He also urged banks and cyber police to strengthen coordination by maintaining a centralised database of suspicious accounts and conducting regular district-level review meetings.

As part of the initiative, authorities will deploy AI-based surveillance at 190 identified hotspot bank branches and suspicious ATMs across Rajasthan.

Banks will also strengthen verification norms for high-value current accounts, re-verify suspicious accounts and ensure that nodal officers from major banks remain available at the Cyber Response Centre.

The government will further strengthen the Money Restoration Module (MRM) and Grievance Redressal Module (GRM) to accelerate the recovery and return of money lost in cyber fraud cases.

Officials also stressed the need to expand public awareness campaigns on KYC-related scams, educate people about the dangers of renting out bank accounts and provide dedicated assistance to senior citizens, who are often targeted by cyber criminals.

Major banks will visit the 1930 Cyber Helpline Call Centre to strengthen coordination with police.

The initiative aims to speed up cyber fraud response and improve protection for victims.
