Rahul Gandhi Meets Pahalgam Terror Victims In Kashmir; Supports Govt’s Action Against Attackers

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited Kashmir on Friday and met civilians injured in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

Congress leaders said Gandhi visited the Army’s Base Hospital in the Badamibagh Cantonment area of Srinagar. The injured victims of the terror attack are receiving treatment there.

A total of 26 civilians died, and several were injured in the cowardly attack that occurred in the Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam.

“Rahulji will also meet various delegations, including those from the party and trade and tourism sectors,” Congress leaders said.

He is likely to meet Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during his visit.

Congress sources said Gandhi came to deliver a message of ‘healing the wounds’ of people across the country, including Kashmiris, after the terror attack.

J&K Congress president Tariq Hameed Karra and senior leader GA Mir received Gandhi at the airport.

Gandhi attended an all-party meeting on Thursday called by the Centre. He expressed full support for the government’s actions in response to the attack.

He also cut short his US visit to attend the Congress Working Committee meeting held on Thursday.

At the all-party meeting in Delhi, the Congress extended full support to the Centre’s move to avenge the killings of innocent civilians in Pahalgam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in Bihar on Thursday, vowed strict punishment for the terrorists, their handlers, and backers.

“The time has come to destroy the shrinking space of these terrorists and their backers. We will chase them to the ends of the earth,” the PM said.
