Prominent Figures Pay Tribute To Late Rajesh Rai At Prayer Meeting In Delhi

A solemn prayer meeting was held at the Chinmaya Mission on Lodhi Road in memory of the late Rajesh Rai, elder brother of Bharat Express CMD Upendrra Rai.

Several prominent figures from politics, journalism, and spiritual circles attended the event to pay their respects.

Among the notable attendees were Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Kalkidham Peethadhishwar Acharya Pramod Krishnam, and renowned poet Kumar Vishwas, who offered heartfelt condolences. During the ceremony, CMD Upendrra Rai became visibly emotional, recalling his brother’s simplicity and saintly nature.

“Everyone desires something in life, but my elder brother, Guddu Bhaiya, wanted nothing. He was truly a saint at heart. I was by his side in the hospital, and the helplessness I felt that day is something I will never forget,” Upendrra Rai said. He added that often people grieve more because they cannot give their loved ones the time and care they deserve.

Kumar Vishwas offered a moving tribute, emphasising the difference between death and liberation. He comforted Upendrra Rai, stating, “To depart the earth content is true liberation. In love, one gives their entire presence, and that spirit of detachment and devotion is now emerging from Upendrra Rai’s heart as he embarks on this journey.”

Prayers for Peace of the Departed Soul

Acharya Pramod Krishnam led a prayer for the departed soul, chanting the Gayatri Mantra and Omkar.

Highlighting the human experience of life and death, he said, “Everyone knows they must leave this life one day, but few truly accept it.”

He drew upon the example of Lord Buddha and his disciple Anand, explaining that one who experiences death never returns to share that experience. The spiritual leader concluded with the message: ‘Appo Deepo Bhava’ – be your own light.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid tribute by offering flowers at Rajesh Rai’s portrait. Other dignitaries present included Dr Shiv Kumar Sharin, KC Tyagi, Congress leader Mumtaz Patel, and BJP MLA Pankaj Singh, among others, who all expressed condolences and remembered his contributions.

The gathering reflected a deep sense of respect, reverence, and the impact Rajesh Rai had on those around him.
