Spiritual luminary Acharya Pramod Krishnam led a solemn prayer gathering at Chinmaya Mission, Lodhi Road, to honour the memory of Rajesh Rai, elder brother of Bharat Express CMD Upendrra Rai.
The event drew prominent figures, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, poet Kumar Vishwas, senior journalists, and political leaders, who joined to pay their respects.
During the ceremony, Acharya Pramod Krishnam delivered a deeply moving discourse on life, death, and the nature of sorrow. He said, “In life, one can speak much, yet life’s experiences cannot be fully conveyed. Those who leave never return to share their journey. Destiny dictates this law, yet the mind struggles to accept it.”
He illustrated his points with examples from sacred texts and spiritual lore.
Speaking about the grief of Lord Krishna and Buddha’s disciple Anand, Acharya Pramod highlighted the universality of loss and the challenge of coming to terms with the absence of loved ones.
He stressed that while individuals come and go, the collective prayers of the community hold immense power, offering solace to those in mourning.
He further explained that one must feel pain, as words cannot always define it. Drawing attention to the enduring love between Upendrra Rai and his late brother, he said, “The regret of not being able to give someone the time they deserve stays with the heart forever. True compassion manifests in shared remembrance and prayer.”
Poet Kumar Vishwas complemented Acharya Pramod’s spiritual reflections, speaking on the difference between death and liberation and offering emotional support to Upendrra Rai. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and other dignitaries, including Dr Shiv Kumar Sharin, KC Tyagi, Congress leader Mumtaz Patel, and BJP MLA Pankaj Singh, also paid floral tributes.
The ceremony not only honoured the memory of Rajesh Rai but also highlighted the guiding presence and wisdom of Acharya Pramod Krishnam, whose teachings provided comfort and perspective to all present. His discourse emphasised love, detachment, and the power of collective prayer in navigating grief and loss.
