Prime Minister Modi Highlights Hindi’s Role On Hindi Diwas

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Hindi Diwas by emphasizing the integral role of language as an instrument of expression rather than its root. Speaking on the occasion, he reflected on the significance of Hindi in his own life, stating, “I sometimes think that without understanding Hindi, how would I have reached out to people or connected with them? I personally know the strength of the Hindi language.”

Modi paid tribute to several prominent leaders who championed Hindi despite not being native speakers themselves. “In our country, leaders like Subhas Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak, Kakasaheb Kalelkar, and Rajagopalachari, whose mother tongues were not Hindi, tirelessly worked for the protection, conservation, and promotion of the language. Their dedication inspires us,” he noted.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the value of regional languages and their connection to Hindi. “Every state has priceless treasures in the form of its mother tongue. Hindi can serve as a suitable medium to connect these diverse linguistic resources, thereby strengthening the language and furthering our collective efforts,” he added.

Rajnath Singh On Hindi Diwas

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also commemorated Hindi Diwas, which marks the adoption of Hindi as the official language by the Constituent Assembly of India on September 14, 1949. Reflecting on the 75th anniversary, Singh underscored Hindi’s role in uniting Indian society. “From freedom fighters to strategists, Hindi has served as a tool for social unity,” he said in a video posted on X.

Singh praised Hindi for its inclusiveness, noting its ability to absorb words from various languages, a reflection of Indian culture and tradition. “Hindi’s richness lies in its ability to integrate words from many languages, a testament to our cultural unity,” he remarked.

While acknowledging the progress made in making Hindi more accessible to the public, Singh stressed the need for further efforts. “Hindi is becoming more people-oriented with government and societal support, but we must continue working to elevate Hindi to a global language,” he added.

Mamata Banerjee On Hindi Diwas

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also extended her wishes on Hindi Diwas, highlighting the state’s efforts to promote Hindi. “Since 2011, we have made significant strides in uplifting Hindi-speaking communities, including the establishment of the Hindi Academy, Hindi University, and several Hindi colleges,” she noted on X.
