Previous Governments in UP had made Azamgarh a Center of Criminal and Mafia Activities: Yogi Adityanath

Azamgarh: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused previous governments in Uttar Pradesh of making Azamgarh a hub of crime and mafia activities and claimed that the image has changed as a result of constructive work. He said, that seven years ago, Azamgarh was famous for crime and mafia activities, but now the Prime Minister is showering money on the area, bringing forward projects worth thousands of crores of rupees.

Speaking at the inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony of 782 development projects worth Rs 34,700 crore at the Manduri airport complex in Azamgarh on Sunday, Adityanath called for improving Azamgarh’s security as well as its development, modernization of infrastructure over the past decade. Thanked Minister Narendra Modi. , and implementing various public welfare initiatives.

The Chief Minister said that Azamgarh, Lalganj, and Ghosi seats will be in favor of BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Adityanath stressed the importance of the Purvanchal Expressway, built at a cost of over Rs 22,000 crore, in the development of Azamgarh. He underlined how it has revolutionized the economy of eastern Uttar Pradesh, allowing residents of Azamgarh to travel to Lucknow in about two hours.

“The Prime Minister’s idea of allowing even people wearing slippers to fly is now a reality in Uttar Pradesh and the entire country. In Uttar Pradesh, where earlier only two airports were functioning, we now have nine, and the Prime Minister inaugurated five new airports today,” Adityanath said.

The Chief Minister stressed the long-standing need to open its university in Azamgarh, which is now going to become a reality. The Prime Minister opened the institute, which is named after Maharaja Suhail Dev, a historical figure known for his courage and bravery. Adityanath highlighted the twin-engine government’s transformative measures, including the construction of a music college in Hariharpur to boost the cultural landscape of Azamgarh.

Local goods such as black pottery and Mubarakpur silk sarees have gained global recognition as a result of the ‘One District, One Product’ initiative, contributing to India’s ideal of self-reliance. He further said that Atal Residential School has been constructed to educate the children of workers.

Highlighting the extraordinary turnaround, the Chief Minister said that Azamgarh, which was earlier synonymous with terror, is now winning national and international respect for its contribution to art, education, literature, and development. Adityanath emphasized that Azamgarh has restored its ancient identity and is on the path to prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. He said, “Previous governments of the state had made Azamgarh a center of crime and mafia activities, the image of which has now changed with developmental activities.”

Emphasizing building a new India, Adityanath said, “We are seeing new railways and national highway projects within the state. Before Holi, citizens of the state receive gifts worth thousands of crores of rupees.”

The Chief Minister stressed that the double-engine government ensures that the benefits of governance projects are distributed equally to all villages including the poor, youth, and farmers. In Azamgarh district, 11.30 lakh Ayushman cards were provided, while 7.5 lakh farmers got an income of Rs 1,940 crore from Kisan Samman Nidhi. Adityanath said that under the Ujjwala initiative, three lakh people have got free cooking gas connections. He said houses have been supplied to 1.10 lakh people through the PM Awas (Rural) Scheme, which includes 17,000 additional beneficiaries in the urban districts of Azamgarh.
